RESEARCHES AT DESIGN STUDY

We offer cooperation to scientific, technical and development organizations involved in the mining industry. Our services will be useful in geomechanical substantiation of atypical design solutions, which use empirical and simple numerical methods do not provide sufficient decision-informed decisions. The importance of applying our model highlights the fact that today in foreign practice geomechanical studies for the design it becomes necessary to perform an in-depth simulation of discrete element method at runtime project documentation in addition to the use of simulation methods of continuum mechanics. Numerical simulations allows to perform geomechanical optimization of the development systems, forecasting of dangerous deformation processes, optimization of the pillars, and much more.

The examples of our work are shown below.

FORECASTING AND OPTIMIZATION OF THE EXTRACTION PARAMETERS

Sublevel caving systems are used in mining of steep thick ore deposits, mainly in the presence of unstable surrounding rocks. The system achieves high performance of mines, however it has the drawback of significant loss of ore and dilution. FDEM modeling is performed to study the dependence of the mining extraction parameter and their optimization.

MODELING OF UNDERGROUND MINING AFTER OPEN PIT

Modeling of combined mining allows prediction of deformation processes that affect the sides of the pit, and simulate geomechanical processes of underground mining. As an example, the simulation of Palabora underground deposit completion with block caving is shown.

PREDICTION OF SUBSIDENCE

Describes the simulation results with the actual data with an accuracy which can not be prepared by standard methods on an example of movement in Degtyarskoye field.

ESTIMATION OF THE MOVEMENT PARAMETERS

Calculation of the earth surface and rock mass movement parameters after underground mining is carried out to support the design solutions. It is taken into account the mechanical and spatial properties of rocks and joints, structural characteristics of fractures, stages of mining. The solution is shown on the example of Yubileynoe field.

ESTIMATION OF PILLAR SIZE

Calculation of the earth surface and surrounding rock movement parameters after underground mining is carried out to support the design solutions in the construction of mining enterprises. The use of advanced numerical methods of geomechanics allows taking into account the physical and mechanical properties of rocks, parameters of fractures, structural characteristics of rocks and fractures, staging of mining, availability of faulting, rock pressure control methods. The task solution is shown on the example of Yubileynoe field

PREDICTION OF PIT WALLS DEFORMATION

Prediction of pit walls and edges strain performed both during the design and in the course of the mining enterprise operation. Results of numerical simulation are used to study the possible and observed deformation processes.
